Student Information

For Students: The field crops entomology lab group includes graduate research assistants (currently 2 M.S. and 4 Ph.D.). Seasonally, undergraduate students from local colleges and universities take internships in the lab.  These students are supported from a combination of scholarships and fellowships, state and federal research grants, and private sector contracts.  A partial listing of their accomplishments listed below.

Luke Pruter, Ph.D. Entomology (Advisors: Michael Brewer and Julio Bernal): Management of leaf and ear-feeding Lepidoptera on corn, and association with aflatoxin and corn breeding.
James Glover, Ph.D. Entomology (Advisors: Michael Brewer and Greg Sword): Management of boll-feeding sucking bugs on cotton.
Isaac Esquivel, Ph.D. Entomology (Advisors: Michael Brewer and Bob Coulson): Spatial ecology of sucking bugs on cotton.
John Gordy, part-time Ph.D. Entomology (Advisors: Michael Brewer and Mo Way and Kevin Heinz): Management of sugarcane aphid on sorghum.
Jason Thomas, M.S. Entomology (Advisors: Robert Bowling and Michael Brewer): Outreach education with a focus on sugarcane aphid on sorghum.
Erin Maxson, M.S. Entomology (Advisors: James Woolley and Michael Brewer): Natural enemies of sugarcane aphid on sorghum.
